The Bulletin / avril 1999

Frédéric Halbreich
"Let nature be your teacher," William Wordsworth once observed, and this Bussels - based artist has learned well. His paintings offer a kind of abstract naturalism, inspired by trees, night skies and sunrises but somehow transcending their subjects. Most are either monochrome or incorporate shades of subtile variation, the colour calm and a little sombre - rust, ochre, deep blue, jungle green - and the names reflecting his feelings or experiences (Hommage aux jours de silence, Aube sacrée, Nécropole).

Galerie Art - Pol , 60 rue de l' Aqueduc, Brussels, until April 24, Wednesday to Saturday from 3 to 6 pm.
